COR 7.0
Release Date: December 2006
This newest version of the COR CD–ROM includes helpful enhancements outlined below while maintaining all the functionality of Version 6.0. All you have to do is load 7.0; you don't have to call for a registration number, and it will not change any of the data you've entered so far.
The new COR Version 7.0 includes several new features as well as changes to existing features, as requested by COR users. The following is a summary of what you will find in the new COR 7.0.
Entering Anecdotes:
In previous versions of the COR users were required to complete entries in the When and Where fields in order to save an anecdote. While we strongly recommend the completion of these values, the When and Where fields are now optional entries.
A feature that has been included in the COR all along, although many users did not know about it, is the ability to copy and paste a single anecdote to multiple children. To use this feature, highlight the anecdote you wish to copy, right click with your mouse on the highlighted anecdote, and select copy. Next switch to the next child by selecting his or her name from the drop-down list found in the Child Menu link, and click Add New Anecdote. Using your mouse, right click in the space provided for entering anecdotes and select Paste. The anecdote will be copied from the previous child. This feature can be used to copy anecdotes that describe multiple children.
Two new items have been added for entering anecdotes for ESL children. Items GG and HH now appear when a child's primary language is identified as other than English. These items are available on the Parent Report and are used as well when evaluating progress in the Child Outcomes Report.
In addition to the existing methods of scoring anecdotes, version 7.0 includes a Quick Score feature which allows you to enter the Item and Level (e.g., G4), using your keyboard to score each anecdote.
Quick Help:
Users looking for quick help in using some of the program features such as Transfer Children and User Defined Fields can click on the Question button for quick instructions on how to use the application features.
Reports:
New reports in Version 7.0 include the Category Summary, Data by Item, and csv Export File.
The Category Summary Report summarizes each child's average score in each of the six COR Preschool categories for the selected period. Scores are calculated with up to two decimal places for evaluating incremental gains. The classroom average for each category is shown at the bottom of the report.
The Data by Item Report shows each child's highest score by item for the selected reporting period. The classroom average for each item is calculated at the bottom of the report.
The csv Export File (CSV stands for comma separated values) allows you to export the children's data from the current or previous year(s) data in a worksheet format for additional evaluation and analysis. Each row of data includes the program name, site name, classroom name, school year (start and end dates), child's first name, child's last name, birth date, gender, IEP status (yes or no), ethnicity, and primary language. The report also includes an option for omitting child demographic data. For each child the highest score and anecdote date are included for each item across each reporting period (Period 1, Period 2, and Period 3). You may export previous year data (data for sites where the previous school year has been closed), in a spreadsheet format by selecting Previous Year when generating the csv Export File.
The Classroom, Site, and Program Outcomes Reports have been modified to include summary statistics at the bottom of each graph, depending on the level selected. Statistical measures include the Mean Level or each report period as well as a Gain Summary calculating the gains between Period 1 and Period 2; Period 2 and Period 3; and Period 1 and Period 3, for each reporting period included.
