HighScope Foundation's training philosophy is that teachers who work with children during their most critical years of development can benefit from comprehensive training. We also believe that all teachers can succeed, even though their learning styles may differ. Our trainers are sensitive to individuals' needs, and as a result, they provide participants with a varied range of opportunities to learn, including reading and writing assignments, small-group discussion, large-group discussion, personal reflection, observation, feedback, and more.

Training Options
HighScope offers extensive course work to teachers in preschool, early elementary, and youth programs in the United States and abroad. Depending on the specific needs of teachers and agency administrators, participants can choose from the following options:
One- and two-day workshops —Introductory or entry-level information or review of content on a specific component of the HighScope Curriculum. A great place for teachers to begin!
Week-long courses — Similar to workshops in that discussion focuses on a specific component of the HighScope Curriculum. These include more in-depth discussion and analysis!
Multiple-week courses — In-depth course work that ultimately leads to HighScope Teacher Certification, Trainer Certification, and Program Accreditation. These courses promote the skills individuals need to establish a high-quality program and to sustain best practices.
Customized training — Course work serving agencies and teachers that have specific needs. HighScope conducts an assessment of teachers’ needs and goals and establishes training with those needs in mind.
Online training courses — On-line course work in which participants join an e-learning community and have access to group discussion as well as individual attention from the course instructor. Course work can be accessed and completed anywhere, anytime — all with personal attention from the instructor and classmates.
Our method of training is also utilized at conference presentations at HighScope and across the country.
