HighScope Expands Leadership With Chief Operating Officer

Armen Hratchian joins the foundation to drive early childhood education forward

YPSILANTI, MI, November 14, 2016 — The HighScope Educational Research Foundation has named Armen Hratchian Chief Operating Officer. In this new role, Armen will work across the organization to advance the foundation’s goals of expanding access to high-quality early childhood education for children locally and globally.

I’m confident he will make an immediate, positive impact on our organization’s operations,” said HighScope President Cheryl Polk, PhD. “Armen’s achievements in successfully leading high-impact initiatives and teams have prepared him to strategically support the foundation and our work of advancing the early childhood field.”

Hratchian joins HighScope with a wealth of experience from his career focused in the public sector and education. Most recently he served as Vice President of K–12 Education for Excellent Schools Detroit, where as a member of the senior leadership team he worked to improve education outcomes for all children in Detroit. Hratchian previously worked at Public Sector Consultants in Lansing and as a government bond analyst at Standard and Poor’s in New York.

“As a parent whose children are enrolled in HighScope programs, I have experienced firsthand the profound impact that active learning has on young children,” said Armen Hratchian. “It is an honor to join the HighScope team and I look forward to the significant impact that we will have on the future of education.”

Hratchian earned a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University, and completed his undergraduate studies at Saginaw Valley State University. While working in Detroit, he was active with several initiatives and boards, including Michigan Future Schools Governing Board; Detroit Scholarship Fund Advisory Board and the Detroit College Access Network; the National Advisory Board for EdFuel’s Blueprint for Success Initiative; and on the Michigan Department of Education’s School Accountability Committee.
